Privacy statement

This privacy statement aims to give you information on how Work in South Holland collects, uses, stores, shares and looks after your personal data. You may share personal data with Work in South Holland when you visit our website, job board, events or sign up for our newsletter, follow us on social media or contact us by email. We will process personal data in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the GDPR Implementation Act and other applicable laws and regulations in the Netherlands. 

Collection of personal data

Upon visiting our website or job board your browser automatically sends Work in South Holland certain information (including your IP address and the type of browser you are using). The temporary storage of this information by the system is necessary to facilitate the delivery, optimisation and security of the website to your computer

Our website www.workinsouthholland.nl, may use or request personal data, for example when you request to sign up for a newsletter or event. The information includes first name, last name, email address and some optional information about your background. 

Our job board jobs.workinsouthholland.nl may use or request personal data, for example when you apply for a job directly on the platform, subscribe to job alerts or join the talent network. The information includes first name, last name, email address, job preferences, URL and information of LinkedIn profile according to your privacy settings, location, CV and cover letter. Our job board has a separate privacy statement and cookie policy. 

These personal details will not be saved on the website domain and will not be stored by Work in South Holland but by our supplier of our newsletter database (Spotler), event software (Eventbrite) or job board (Getro). We have entered into a data processing agreement with these parties to ensure your information protection and privacy. Upon deleting your account all stored data will be removed.  

Purposes of processing

The legal basis for processing personal data is to perform a task in the public interest. For functions not carried out in the performance of our public task, Work in South Holland will rely on its vital interests and consent as a legal basis to process personal data in a proportionate and expected way. Work in South Holland provides the facility to opt-out of receiving newsletters, job board alerts, social media and event communications in compliance with our obligations under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your personal data may be processed for the following purposes:

  • For our services: to respond to questions or complaints by email, telephone, social media or face-to-face. To verify your identity at an event you signed up for. 
  • For our job board: applying for a job directly on the site, subscribing to job alerts or joining the talent network.  
  • For marketing and communication: to send out newsletters, send you an invitation to a meeting or event or to share photos or videos taken during one of our events on social media, website or newsletter. 
  • To improve our services: user data helps us improve your experience of our services.

     

Use of cookies

Cookies are used when you visit the website or job board. Cookies are small pieces of information transferred to your computer through your web browser to enable Work in South Holland systems to recognize your preferences and settings. Cookies collect information such as the type of search engine used, the sections of the website visited, language settings, location and other website usage information. Work in South Holland may use this information to optimise your experience and for analytical purposes. Work in South Holland uses Google Analytics 4 and has taken measures to protect your privacy with respect to Google Analytics. You can remove stored cookies or decline new cookies in your browser.

Sharing of personal data

To perform our task in the public interest we may need to share the data we collect with the official partners the Work in South Holland project, including the Province of South Holland, Metropolitan Area Rotterdam-The Hague (MRDH), municipality The Hague, Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam, Rotterdam Partners, Leiden & Partners or the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO). Work in South Holland is a project financially and legally administered by the municipality of The Hague (gemeente Den Haag). Privacy agreements have been made with our partners to guarantee your privacy.

Work in South Holland will not share or sell your personal information to third parties.  Work in South Holland may link to other websites. We are not responsible for third party compliance with GDPR law and regulations. 

Storage of data

Work in South Holland does not store personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which this data was obtained, and to satisfy the applicable laws and regulations. Your data is stored by the municipality of The Hague (gemeente Den Haag), which runs the Work in South Holland project and its website, job board and other tools. 

Security

Work in South Holland complies with the GDPR by taking appropriate technical and organisational security measures to secure and protect your personal data. Besides the encryption of personal data and access controls to computer systems, Work in South Holland employees have a duty of non-disclosure and access to personal data is only given to authorised employees.

Individual rights 

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to be informed: you have the right to know why your personal data is required, what it will be used for and how long it will be retained.
  • Right of access: you have the right to access your personal data which is known to Work in South Holland.
  • Right to rectification: you have the right to complete or rectify data, have data erased or request restriction of your personal data whenever you wish.
  • Right to be forgotten: when you give consent to Work in South Holland to process your data, you have the right to have your personal data erased again.
  • Right to data portability: you have the right to obtain all your personal data from the controller and to move or transfer all this data to another controller.
  • Right to object: you may object to the processing of your data by Work in South Holland. The Hague International Centre complies with this right, unless there are legitimate grounds for processing the data.

     

If you wish to exercise these rights or request access to your personal data, you may submit your request digitally (mailto: work@denhaag.nl) or in writing (Directie Internationaal, gemeente Den Haag, Spui 70, 2511BT, Den Haag). Work in South Holland responds in writing within 4 weeks. You may then request Work in South Holland to complete, rectify or erase your data. Include in your request which changes you want made. Again Work in South Holland will respond within 4 weeks. We always ask you to provide identification.
