The Netherlands: Where chips meet the future

Chips are essential for the future of new energy, digitalisation, mobility and health. Growth is being driven by surging demand for Artificial Intelligence, making semiconductors one of the fastest-growing Dutch industries. The Netherlands is one of the only countries in the world with a complete semiconductor value chain from design, fabrication, assembly, testing and packaging. All supported by close collaboration between machine builders, chip designers, researchers and suppliers.

South Holland: Where semicon meets quantum

South Holland is an essential part of the semiconductor industry, specialising in advanced measurement systems. Delft University of Technology and TNO lead with world-class research and a track record of succesful spin-offs, including Nearfield Instruments , whose atomic-scale metrology systems are now deployed by the world's leading chipmakers and Qualinx , which is bringing a new generation of ultra-low-power chips to market. Hittech  produces components and assembles semiconductor equipment, while Demcon  develops and tests high tech systems for the chip industry. What makes the South Holland truly distinctive is its emerging crossover between semiconductor and quantum technologies, like QuantWare and QBlox. Nowhere else is this convergence happening at this scale.
